Utter Failing of Humanity is a collective work of glass experiments that fail. Failed experiments are forgotten and not worth remembering. This installation confronts us to re-think this forgotten shadow - the side that is usually not presented but present. Through the exploration of glass, the associated qualities and possibilities it offer, I approach issues of uncertainty and tension in my work. The potential of glass reminds me of the dual nature of humanity, and all the opposing layers of contradictions in us.
When the glass breaks, the fragments or debris seek to alter our perceptions of beauty, perfection and artistic product. The broken pieces of glass in my work is a reflection of complete failures, a recording of time and the evidence of disappointing processes. Through my aesthetically unpleasing objects, I hope to question the invisible and unwanted qualities of existence, how do we react to the expression of failures in relation to our pursuits, and how do they affect us emotionally?
